Spring Break (more like semester): Last Minute [infographic]
So this blog post idea was written about 2 weeks ago but I never really seemed to get around to posting it so here we are. While this topic may no longer seem relevant, in a way it is because our “spring break” has technically been extended and combined with our summer break until August. Now I know we still are responsible for finishing this semester remotely but we will have a lot more time on our hands which opens up the opportunity to do some of these things that we could have done over spring break. Since most states are still technically on an unofficial lockdown, I am in no way encouraging you to break the rules and do what I am suggesting you to do. When the time comes for us to go back outside, you already know we are gonna be out there and we will have a ton of things already planned and thought out to do. So here are my 5 suggestions on things you can do many times at the last minute to add a little fun and productivity to our 5 month spring/summer break!
Be a tourist in your city
Once this coronavirus stuff calms down and we are finally able to go back to our normal lives, gather in groups larger than 10 and things open back up, I encourage you to go out and explore. This can be a great opportunity to try and learn new things and discover new places in your city that you have never been before.
Explore the great outdoors
Spring is a beautiful time to be outside. The flowers are blooming, the weather is finally warming up and the days are longer. Check out the internet to find some cool places where you live. You can spend a day in the park and paint or take a weekend to go camping with family and friends. The possibilities are endless and it shouldn’t hurt you pockets to do most of these things either.
Alternative spring break
Spend your time wisely and give back to those in need. Whether you volunteer daily in your hometown or take a trip somewhere else to help, there is always an opportunity to do good in the world because trust me, we need it.
Book the trip of your dreams
With the coronavirus pandemic having flight prices low, this can be a great opportunity to book a trip to a place you have always dreamed of. Now I am not saying that you should ignore the national urge to stay indoors but booking a trip a little far out doesn’t seem like a problem to me. After all, if this crisis lasts longer than we think it might, many airlines are cancelling flights and allowing people to reschedule so you wouldn’t really be losing your money.
Catch up on sleep and shows
This one is pretty self-explanatory and is the option I would go with any day. We have worked so hard this far in the semester and we deserve a little time to ourselves. Take that 6 hour nap you have always wanted to or start that new Netflix series. Besides, we are technically on break for 5 months so time is definitely no longer an issue.
These are just a few fun (and well deserved) things you can do over this extended break to make the most of your time. Things are definitely going to be different from now on but there isn’t anything we cannot handle. If you have any other ideas of how we can spend our extended spring break, be sure to leave them below in the comments!
xoxo,
LD
